Two kinds of world share this list. Official Tibia worlds are polled through TibiaData, so their online counts, PvP type and location come straight from Cipsoft's own data. Open Tibia servers — OTS — are independently run and report their own numbers, and they are where most of the customisation lives: custom rates, custom spells, war servers, and revivals of long-dead world types. PvP type is the filter that changes the game most: optional PvP, open PvP, retro hardcore and everything between are all represented, and joining the wrong one is the fastest way to lose a character.
